Spring

As another winter passes in the Northwoods, Spring fever follows close behind... cure it with a visit to Phillips!

Whether you are an avid fisherman, camper or sports enthusiast, Price County is an outdoor recreation paradise! The Phillips Chain of Lakes; Duroy, ELk, Long & Wilson, with surrounding lakes such as Solberg and Soo, offer fishing at its finest with bass, panfish, muskie, northern and walleye pike not to mention area campgrounds and resorts abound! Need a fishing guide or equipment to go ride the trails or for camping? Why not canoe and kayak the Northwoods? Our members have everything you need in the recreation area! Price County is home to 3 main rivers: Elk, Flambeau and Jump. Explore a piece of history and see the beauty of the Northwoods; to paddle the Flambeau is to journey down one of the great waterways of North America.

Summer

When summertime approaches the Phillips area is bursting with plenty to do. Spend an afternoon paddling down one of our beautiful rivers, bike or hike any one of our exceptional trails, or if its a quick game of volleyball, softball or golf we have it!

If you need to escape the heat, take a cooling dip at the beach at Chain o' Lakes, Solberg Park, or Connors Lake, if you prefer to swim indoors, the Phillips Community Pool with diving well and whirlpool is a must. Water-ski, jet-ski, fish or just cruise our area lakes with plenty of room for everyone.

Fourth of July activities are abundant in the Phillips area, with our small town communities offering hometown events. Phillips Celebration includes a parade, community auction, and the area's Best Fireworks over beautiful Lake Duroy. But the Summer fun doesn't stop there... the Best 5 Days of Summer starts in August, where the Price County Fair offers something for everyone!

Fall

A season of beautiful colors and many activities with exciting adventures to be experienced in the Northwoods as the leaves begin to change from shades of green to yellows, reds and oranges. A wide variety of outdoor activities are available including camping, fishing, ATVing, wildlife viewing, hiking and biking. A leisurely drive around the Phillips area will reveal some of the splendors of mother nature's most colorful season. The Phillips area is home to 857,000 acres of the Chequamegon National Forest, Flambeau River State Forest, County Forests and other industrial lands for hunting enthusiasts. Quality hunting includes white-tailed deer, black bear, wild turkey, small game and ruffed grouse.

There are also activities for the water lovers; Price County lakes and flowages offer paddlers an opportunity to explore developed and undeveloped landscape and we have Chamber Members that offer rental and shuttle service for canoes and kayaks. The Flambeau Rivers or Jump Rivers are the perfect place for anyone wanting to "get away from it all" by canoeing, kayaking and paddling down river, plus there are several canoe landings and campsites for day trips or an overnight adventure. It doesn't matter if you are a novice or expert, paddler, the canoeing and kayaking opportunities in Price County are endless.

Venture to the Northwoods not only for a day of natural beauty as the trees are near peak colors, but once you get to Phillips there is a variety of things to do! Enjoy the look and feel of our downtown as it's decorated by our Chamber Members' businesses trying to win our annual “Scarecrow Decorating Contest", stroll down main street, listen to good music, or decorate a pumpkin... there is fun for everyone! It's a day full of fun, food, and music as we welcome the fall season. Please remember to visit all our area's businesses – from north to south and in between – and enjoy the hospitality that they offer.

Wandering Wisconsin Roadside Events- The Friends of Fred Smith will be holding their "Celebration Of Arts in Action" at the Wisconsin Concrete Park and is a featured event of Wandering Wisconsin Roadside Art Experience 9:00am to 4:00pm. This event provides opportunities to Create Art by offering: watercolor painting, adding to a mosaic wall, glazing and firing a raku pot and painting on a life-size mural. Tour Fred Smith's 237 statues, the Keepsake Quilting Challenge Exhibit, and works of art from Helping Hands Quilt Club. Take time to drive the 21 miles of the Price County Fall Festival Tour featuring two additional hometown events on the same day. There will also be an auction, good food, and great music by Highview Bluegrass Band.

Winter

In and around Phillips, throughout Price County, we have ten snowmobile clubs that help maintain over 550 miles of groomed trails directly accessible from Phillips and the surrounding area. With five groomers working 6-7 days a week, Phillips and Price County boast some of the best riding throughout the state. Many claim it - - We have it! Trails winding through the beautiful Chequamegon National Forest for the most spectacular ride of your life.

Cross-country skiing along with snowshoeing have become popular sports and Phillips has become a destination for many people. Price County has 9 groomed cross-country ski trails offering almost 80 miles of trail for your enjoyment. Several snowshoeing trail systems are available including along the side of several cross-country ski trails but only cross-country skiers are allowed on the groomed portions of the winter trails; others are welcome to use the side of the trail that is not groomed. Trails are well groomed and lightly traveled, vary in difficulty with something for every type of skier. You will also find a variety of beautiful scenery and wildlife to enhance your skiing or snowshoeing experience.
