    This Role

    As a Customer Network Technician you will be responsible for:

    • Providing excellent customer service by maintaining, troubleshooting, installing, and documenting customer and business premise equipment, servicing infrastructure and recommending, selling, and installing additional products and services to Norvado customers, in the most efficient manner.
    • Carrying out sales promotions and initiatives individually and in conjunction with the Business Sales and Customer Technology Consultant teams.
    • Working with fiber optic infrastructure.
    • Installing and supporting residential and business customer networks using ONTs, servers, PCs, software, firewalls, routers, switches, wireless networks, and HPBX. Using test equipment and software to locate troubles, record, localize, repair, bill accordingly, and close trouble tickets, with minimal repeats.
    • Reading technical manuals and brochures, utilizing online resources, and using technical support resources for test gear, services, and equipment as needed in order to install, test, service, and repair equipment and services.
    • Following procedures or best practices on inventory control, neatness, truck stock, correct material uses per application to create and maintain a positive image which inspires very high regard.
    • Ensuring safety in work techniques and the environment.
    • Adhering to Norvado’s vision statement, company goals, and values and beliefs statement, and reflecting these commitments in all work performed every day.

    Knowledge & Experience

    These are some qualities we are looking for in our Customer Network Technician position:

    • Knowledge and skills usually acquired through a certification/diploma program or associate degree in telecommunications, IT, electronics or related field or the equivalent training and work experience.
    • Computer and customer residential and commercial network literacy and an ability to learn Norvado proprietary operating software and applications.
    • Comp TIA or similar certifications are expected.

    Skills, Abilities, Qualifications or Expectations

    • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions from written, oral, or diagram formats.
    • Activities may be necessary outside normal business hours. Must be able to respond to “on-call” or emergency maintenance situations.
    • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
    • Able to maintain confidentiality with regard to company and customer data.
    • Able to use and maintain OSP operational software and applications.
    • Able to pick out color-coded cables.
    • Comply with all RUS specifications, industry standards, safety rules and regulations, and company policies.

    Environmental Conditions

    • Normal plant environment with exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, risk of electrical shock, moderate noise levels, and frequent vehicular travel.
    • Normal visual acuity to consistently distinguish wire colors.
    • Frequent maneuvering and manipulation of parts and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
    • Periodic maneuvering of equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

    Equipment & Tools

    Daily use of various telecommunications test equipment, power and hand tools, ladders, computer, telephone, smart devices, calculator, copier, fax, and printers.

    Interactions

    • Daily phone, written, and face-to-face contact with employees throughout the company to exchange information.
    • Daily phone and face-to-face contact with customers to conduct business.

    Other

    • Occasional overnight travel required.
    • Frequent travel by vehicle required.
    • Occasional overtime required.
    • Frequent on call required.
