This Role
These are some of the requirements of our Fiber Optic Construction Foreman/Supervisor position.
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of fiber optic construction projects.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Requires a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge in fiber optic construction.
- Able to operate relevant construction equipment.
- Capable to effectively manage and coordinate a construction crew.
- Report directly to the Director of Engineering and Construction.
Duties & Responsibilities

Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead and supervise a team of construction workers and subcontractors in the installation and maintenance of fiber optic infrastructure.
- Ensure that all team members adhere to safety protocols and company policies.

Project Management:
- Coordinate and manage daily construction activities, including planning, scheduling, and execution of fiber optic construction projects.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the Director of Engineering and Construction and other stakeholders.
- Ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Equipment Operation:
- Operate and maintain construction equipment commonly used in fiber optic projects, including but not limited to trenchers, boring machines, plows, and bucket trucks.
- Ensure that all equipment is used safely and efficiently, in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company policies.

Quality Control:
- Inspect work performed by the crew to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
- Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during construction, including troubleshooting and problem-solving on-site.

Communication and Coordination:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for crew members, the Director of Engineering and Construction, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with other departments and external partners to ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain accurate records of daily work activities, including work logs, progress reports, and material usage.

Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce strict adherence to all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.

Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fiber optic construction or telecommunications infrastructure.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic cable installation techniques, equipment, and industry standards.
Skills, Abilities, Qualifications or Expectations
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining fiber optic construction equipment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and ability to travel to various job sites as needed.
- OSHA certification or equivalent safety training is preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Environmental Conditions
- Frequent exposure to outside weather and elements.
- Normal office environment.
Equipment & Tools
DAILY USE OF: Computer, telephone, smart devices, calculator, copier, products/services related equipment and printers, and construction equipment commonly used in fiber optic projects, including but not limited to trenchers, boring machines, plows, and bucket trucks.

- Daily phone, written, and face-to-face contact with employees throughout the company to exchange information.
- Daily phone, written, and face-to-face contact with contractors to conduct business.
- Regular phone and written contact with vendors to complete job tasks.

- Frequent travel by vehicle required.
